It's Go Time.

We are fast approaching the One Month Until the Marathon mark.  This is no joke.  My Saturday runs are getting to the point where my run time is the same run time as the fifth Harry Potter movie.  Thus far, 16 miles is the farthest I've ever run, and it was DIFFICULT.  The end was a bit of a struggle, but once it was done I felt pretty good about myself.  This past weekend's 12 miler was comparatively easy.  Maybe because I spent the entire week prior resting my legs (and the rest of me) here:

Yes, Jay and I just returned for a 5 day 4 night vacation in the Dominican Republic, and it was awesome.  Beach/pool lounging, delicious beverages, and 85-90 degree sunny days.  Sadly though (and solely my fault) there was no running whatsoever.  So I was pretty surprised and happy with how my run went this past Saturday in 39 degree overcast New Jersey.  This upcoming Saturday is 18 miles.  EIGHTEEN MILES.  So I guess it's time to buckle down and start getting really serious about this.  T-40 days until I am officially a marathoner.

Yikesville McGillicuddy,

PS:  There will be no real race review of the Turkey Trot I did on Thanksgiving Day, as I don't remember it very well.  Thanksgiving Eve was, as usual, abundant with libations.  Henceforth, I was still rocking a fairly high BAC when I crossed the starting line.  And the finish line.  Somehow managed to PR though!  29:19:00.  I'll call it a win.

  1. Words cannot describe your condition during that Turkey Trot. PRs for both of us, though!
